People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this soy milk chocolate bar.
The Soy Milk chocolate bar was distributed in the following states: New York, New Jersey , Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, Wisconsin., New Mexico, Virginia, Washington, Oregon, California, Michigan, Ohio. This product was available through retail stores and chain stores and through our web site: echocolates.com.
The bar is presented in a beige cardboard package of 3.5 oz, depicting tree with a green band on top stating "43% Soy milk or 38% Soy milk". On the back of the package one would find; the following information: UPC: 797148000398.
There is one incident involving a child who developed rashes that has been confirmed to date. This incident triggered an analysis of the formulation, and product analysis to determine the origin of the problem. Dear [Phil Scarpa],

ConAgra Foods was contacted yesterday by federal and state health officials regarding potential concerns related to consumers not following cooking instructions for our 7 oz. Banquet Pot Pies and private label pot pies produced at our Marshall, Missouri facility. Consumers were advised today by ConAgra Foods and the USDA not to eat the turkey and chicken product at this time.

As a precautionary measure, all 7 oz. Banquet and Private Label Pot Pies containing poultry, bearing the number P9 on the side of the package, are on temporary hold while we work with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to address the situation. Routine shipments are suspended and customers should immediately remove the P9 product from store shelves and isolate it in their warehouse. They should also suspend selling 7 oz. Banquet Pot Pies and private label pot pies containing poultry bearing the number P9.

ConAgra Foods is working with the (USDA) to identify any additional steps that may be appropriate, including potential changes that may further clarify cooking instructions for consumers. Already, we are revising packaging to more clearly illustrate different cooking times for Banquet pot pies related to varying wattages of microwaves.

I want to emphasize that Banquet Pot Pies and private label pot pies are not ready-to-eat products and must be thoroughly cooked according to package directions before eating. The cooking instructions for these products are specifically designed to eliminate the presence of common pathogens found in many uncooked products. Microwave cooking times vary, depending on the wattage of the microwave, so consumers should carefully follow all instructions.

If they wish, consumers may return these products to ConAgra Foods for a full refund, by sending the side panel of the package that contains the code “P9” to ConAgra Foods, Department BQPP, PO Box 3768, Omaha, NE 68103-0768. Or if they prefer, they may return the product to the store from which it was purchased for a refund; consumers should discard the product prior to returning the entire package to their retail store.

We expect this to be a short term situation and these items are not being discontinued. We will provide you with an update on this situation within the next 24-36 hours.

Sincerely,
Doug Knudsen
President, ConAgra Foods Sales

Recall Release
CLASS I RECALL
FSIS-RC-043-2007
HEALTH RISK: HIGHCongressional and Public Affairs(202) 720-9113Amanda Eamich WASHINGTON, Oct. 9, 2007 - Aliki Foods, Inc., an Old Lyme, Conn., firm, is voluntarily recalling approximately 70,400 pounds of a chicken and pasta product that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced today. The following product is subject to recall: [View Label]
5-pound boxes containing two 2.5-pound trays of "Aliki Chicken Broccoli Fettuccine Alfredo Made with White Chicken." Each box bears the establishment number "Est. 219" inside the Canadian Food Inspection Agency mark of inspection as well as a best if used by date of "SEPT 08" printed on the top of the box.
Recommendations For People At Risk For Listeriosis Wash hands with warm, soapy water before and after handling raw meat and poultry for at least 20 seconds. Wash cutting boards, dishes and utensils with hot, soapy water. Immediately clean spills. Keep raw meat, fish and poultry away from other food that will not be cooked. Use separate cutting boards for raw meat, poultry and egg products and cooked foods. Do not eat hot dogs, luncheon meats, bologna or other deli meats unless reheated until steaming hot. Do not eat refrigerated pâté, meat spreads from a meat counter or smoked seafood found in the refrigerated section of the store. Foods that don't need refrigeration, like canned tuna and canned salmon, are safe to eat. Refrigerate after opening. Do not drink raw (unpasteurized) milk and do not eat foods that have unpasteurized milk in them. Do not eat salads made in the store such as ham salad, chicken salad, egg salad, tuna salad or seafood salad. Do not eat soft cheeses such as Feta, queso blanco, queso fresco, Brie, Camembert cheeses, blue-veined cheeses and Panela unless it is labeled as made with pasteurized milk. Use precooked or ready-to-eat food as soon as you can. Listeria can grow in the refrigerator. The refrigerator should be 40 °F or lower and the freezer 0 °F or lower. Use an appliance thermometer to check the temperature of your refrigerator.
The chicken and pasta product was produced on Sept. 28, 2007 and was distributed to retail establishments in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Virginia. The problem was discovered through routine FSIS microbiological sampling at the import establishment. FSIS has received no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of this product. Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon but potentially fatal disease. Healthy people rarely contract listeriosis. However, listeriosis can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Listeriosis can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths, as well as serious and sometimes fatal infections in those with weakened immune systems, such as infants, the elderly and persons with HIV infection or undergoing chemotherapy.
