8-ounce boxes of Ian's Wheat Free, Gluten Free French Bread Pizza with a use-by date of 28Aug2011 and UPC code 7-49512-91572-2 (120 packages impacted) A total of 492 individual boxes are potentially affected.
Consumers who purchased the above products with the specific use-by dates and UPC codes listed are asked to return the products to the place of purchase to receive a full refund. Products that do not contain the specific use-by dates and UPC codes listed are not affected by the recall, and can be used by consumers

We have discovered that some of our products shipped to you have the potential of mold forming because of an emulsion breakdown. This potential mold problem does not have any health related issues. Therefore we are voluntarily withdrawing the product. Please have your stores check retail inventory for the following expiration codes. If they have any of these codes please pull the product and destroy it. We would also like to have the distribution center checked for the codes. If there is any product in the distribution centers please put it on hold and let us know how many cases you have. We will then determine whether we will pick the product up or ask you to destroy it.

Nature’s Harvest organic beef products are recalled

Notification of the organic beef recall comes from the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The three products on the recall list are Nature’s Harvest products and have the establishment number “EST. 18895: along with a Pack Date of “10341” and “10350.”

The three products recalled include:
· 16-oz packages of Nature’s Harvest Organic Ground Beef Brick sold singly with “Use” and “Freeze by” dates of 12/30/10 or 01/08/11
·
· 16-oz package of Organic Harvest Organic Ground Beef

Brick sold singly and in three-packs with “Use” and “Freeze by” dates of 12/28/10 and 01/06/11

· 16-oz packages of Nature’s Harvest Ground Patty with four 4-oz patties and “Use” or “Freeze by” dates of 12/30/10 and 01/08/11

Consumers can view the product labels online for help with identification.

All the products were shipped to retail establishments in six states: California, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Washington state. Sally Jackson Cheese Recalls All Cheese

Recall Reason: Consumers should not eat Sally Jackson cheese due to risk of Escherichia coli O157:H7. Sally Jackson cheeses on the market should be avoided because the products were processed under conditions that create a significant risk of contamination, and because Sally Jackson cheeses have been identified as one possible source of several cases ofEscherichia coli (E. coli) O157:H7 infections. All Sally Jackson cheese is made from unpasteurized raw milk.

Products/Codes: The three types of cheese are all soft raw milk cheeses in various sized pieces. The products do not have labels or codes. The cow and sheep milk cheeses are wrapped in chestnut leaves, the goat cheese is wrapped in grape leaves and all are secured with twine. The cheeses may have an outer wrapping of waxed paper.

Recall Reason: YOURS TRULY CONES are labeled as Milk Free and persons who have an allergy or severe sensitivity or intolerance to Milk products run the risk of serious or life-threatening injury if they consume products with milk ingredients.

Products/Codes: Tofutti Brands Inc. has announced a precautionary recall of 25 pallets of its 4-Pack YOURS TRULY frozen dessert cones (UPC 0-20188-01500-9) due to possible trace level milk contamination reported for one lot of product shipped which was produced in August of 2010.

The product in the above 25 pallets is identified by the labeled Manufacturing facility code 18-497 which will appear printed on one of the two end flaps of the box of the YOURS TRULY CONES along with a production code of either 2330 or 2350, which will follow right after the plant code.

Distribution: The 25 pallets from the suspect lot are being recalled. The bulk of these 25 pallets were sold along the east coast and the Midwest. None of the suspected lot was sold to any west coast distributors or stores.

S&M (U.S.A) ENTERRPIRSE CORP. of 4703 2nd Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11232 is recalling Grow Grove Notes brand Dried Taro because it contained undeclared sulfites. Consumers who have severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.
Grow Grove Notes brand Dried Taro is sold in an un-coded 12 ounce, clear plastic package and was distributed in New York State. It is a product of China.
The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in Grow Grove Notes Brand Dried Taro which were not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligram of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reaction in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites.

Products:The Orval Kent products are being recalled because they contain fresh cilantro produced and distributed by EpicVeg, Inc. of Lompoc, CA. Epic Veg, Inc. issued the notice to recall one lot of cilantro with the UPC code 033383801049 and lot 6127R on November 3, 2010. This lot of cilantro has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella EpicVeg, Inc. distributed the cilantro to Field Fresh Foods, a produce supplier to Orval Kent.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail, or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy persons may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Cibo Vita issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Sulfites in Mediterranean Mix of Woodpecker brand.

Cibo Vita, 280 N. Midland Ave Saddle Brook, NJ 07663 is recalling Mediterranean Mix of Woodpecker brand because it may contain undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.

The recalled Mediterranean Mix, in plastic containers of 8.5 OZ was sold to the list of the attached customers.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequently analysis of the product by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in packages of Mediterranean Mix which did not declare sulfites on the label. The lot being recalled is a product of Norway, individually vacuum-packed in clear plastic pouches with lot # 168 & Sell by date of 7/20/10 indicated on the label and distributed through food retailers in the NY area.
The Schmaltz Herring was sampled by a New York State Agriculture and Markets Food Inspector during a routine inspection. Analysis of the product by New York State Food Laboratory personnel confirmed that Schmaltz Herring was improperly eviscerated prior to processing.

14.75-ounce cans of "SpaghettiOs" Fun Shapes with Meatballs (Cars), bearing the identifying product code "KS" on the bottom of the can. HEALTH RISK: HIGHCongressional and Public Affairs(202) 720-9113Catherine Cochran WASHINGTON, June 17, 2010 - ConAgra Foods Packaged Foods, LLC, a Council Bluffs, Iowa establishment is recalling Marie Callender's brand Cheesy Chicken and Rice frozen meals, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The company is recalling all Marie Callender's brand Cheesy Chicken and Rice frozen meals in commerce, regardless of production date. These products are being recalled after the company was informed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of an investigation involving 29 people in 14 states who have been diagnosed with salmonellosis linked to Salmonella serotype Chester. Eight of the case-patients specifically reported eating this product in April and May, 2010, prior to illness onset; the last reported illness was reported on May 22. FSIS became aware of the problem during the course of an ongoing investigation of a multi-state outbreak of Salmonella serotype Chester illnesses. CDC, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), FSIS, and state health and agriculture departments are cooperating in this ongoing investigation. The investigation is ongoing, and has not yet definitively identified a food vehicle(s). Further information will be released to the public as it becomes available. 13-ounce packages of "Marie Callender's Cheesy Chicken & Rice White Meat Chicken and Broccoli over Rice Topped with Rich Cheddar Sauce."
Recommendations for Preventing Salmonellosis:Wash hands with warm, soapy water for at least 20 seconds before and after handling raw meat and poultry. Also wash cutting boards, dishes and utensils with hot soapy water. Clean up spills right away. Keep raw meat, fish and poultry away from other food that will not be cooked. Use separate cutting boards for raw meat, poultry and egg products and cooked foods. Cook raw meat and poultry to safe internal temperatures before eating. The safe internal temperature for meat such as beef and pork is 160° F, and 165° F for poultry, as determined with a food thermometer. Refrigerate raw meat and poultry within two hours after purchase (one hour if temperatures exceed 90° F). Refrigerate cooked meat and poultry within two hours after cooking.
Each package bears a label with establishment number "P-45" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The establishment is recalling all the products listed above which are currently in commerce. These products were distributed to retail establishments nationwide. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on FSIS' Web site at http://www.fsis.usda.gov/FSIS_Recalls/Open_Federal_Cases/index.asp. Consumers should use a food thermometer to make sure the entrees reach at least 165°F. Consumption of food contaminated with Salmonella can cause salmonellosis, one of the most common bacterial foodborne illnesses. Salmonella infections can be life-threatening, especially to those with weak immune systems, such as infants, the elderly, and persons with HIV infection or undergoing chemotherapy. The most common manifestations of salmonellosis are diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever within eight to 72 hours. Additional symptoms may be chills, headache, nausea and vomiting that can last up to seven days. Consumers who have severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.
The product comes in 16 oz, clear plastic vacuum packed bags. The recalled Strawberry Farm Sun Dried Tomatoes were distributed in Queens, NY to a retail store.
The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in the 16 oz vacuum packed bags Strawberry Farm Sun Dried Tomatoes which were not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfites sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. Analysis of the Strawberry Farms Sun Dried Tomatoes revealed they contained 197 milligrams per 4 oz serving.
No illnesses or allergic reactions involving this product have been reported to date. Recall Reason: Caldwell Fresh Foods, of Maywood, CA, is voluntarily recalling all alfalfa sprouts manufactured under the Caldwell Fresh Foods, Nature's Choice, and California Exotics brands, because the alfalfa sprouts may be contaminated with Salmonella. Caldwell alfalfa sprouts have been associated with an outbreak of Salmonella Newport that has sickened more than 20 people in 10 states, including 11 people in California.

Undeclared Sulfites in Dried Sweet Potato
New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker today alerted consumers that Tiffany Food Corporation, located at 1182 Flushing Avenue in Brooklyn, New York, is recalling Dried Sweet Potato due to the presence of undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites may run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product.
The recalled Dried Sweet Potato is packaged in a 320 gram plastic bag. There is no apparent production code on the package but a UPC code of 6-930003-800083 can be found on the back of the package. The product was distributed nationwide and is a product of China.
Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets’ food inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by New York State Food Laboratory personnel revealed the product contained high levels of sulfites, which were not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert for various ready-to-eat deli meat products because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. FSIS was notified by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) that various ready-to-eat deli meat products subject to recall in Canada may have been exported to the United States. Recently, a problem was discovered through FSIS microbiological testing of imported product from Canadian Establishment 665, which resulted in a positive sample for Listeria monocytogenes and two FSIS recalls dated May 4 and 5, 2010. Northern Food I/E Inc. of Hicksville, NY, is recalling its 100 gram packages of Havista brand “white fungus” because they contain undeclared sulfites. People who have a sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product.

The product comes in a 100 gram clear plastic bag with a multi-color label on the front and a white label on the back. The product is coded Best Before 09/10/2011. The recalled Havista brand “white fungus” was distributed in New York and New Jersey in retail stores.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by the Department’s Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in the product, which were not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. Analysis of the Havista brand “white fungus” revealed it contained 124 milligrams per serving.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

Product is identified in sealed plastic bag (NET WT 350G/12.32 OZ) as HUMEI FOODS DRIED PACHYRHIZUS, PRODUCT OF CHINA.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by the Department’s Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in the product, which were not declared on the label. New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker today alerted consumers that Green Land, 212-03 48th Avenue, Oakland Garden, New York 11364, is voluntarily recalling “Nut Tree Health Mix” due to the presence of undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites may run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product.
The recalled “Nut Tree Health Mix” is packaged in 8 ounce, square plastic tubs and coded DATE: SEP 28 10 in black ink on the product label. The product was distributed in the metropolitan New York area. It is a product of the United States, Turkey and the Philippines.
Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets’ food inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by the New York State Food Laboratory personnel revealed the product contained high levels of sulfites which were not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. MY-A & Co. of Cheverly, MD, is recalling its 3.5oz jars of Ground Black Pepper Double Golden Fish because they may be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e. infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The product comes in a 3.5oz plastic jar with no product codes on the jars. The recalled products were distributed in retail stores in 11 states (GA, TX, IL, MD, VA, NC, OH, NY, MA, ME, FL).

The contamination was discovered after routine testing by the company revealed the presence of Salmonella in some 3.5oz jars of Ground Black Pepper.

FSIS Issues Public Health Alert For Ready-To-Eat Deli Meat Products

Congressional and Public Affairs(202) 720-9113Adrian Gianforti WASHINGTON, March 16, 2010 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert due to illnesses possibly associated with ready-to-eat (RTE) deli meat products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Recommendations For People At Risk For Listeriosis Wash hands with warm, soapy water for at least 20 seconds before and after handling raw meat and poultry. Wash cutting boards, dishes and utensils with hot, soapy water. Immediately clean spills. Keep raw meat, fish and poultry away from other food that will not be cooked. Use separate cutting boards for raw meat, poultry and egg products and cooked foods. Do not eat hot dogs, luncheon meats, bologna or other deli meats unless they are reheated until steaming hot. Do not eat refrigerated pâté, meat spreads from a meat counter or smoked seafood found in the refrigerated section of the store. Foods that don't need refrigeration, like canned tuna and canned salmon, are safe to eat. Refrigerate after opening. Do not drink raw (unpasteurized) milk and do not eat foods that have unpasteurized milk in them. Do not eat salads made in the store such as ham salad, chicken salad, egg salad, tuna salad or seafood salad. Do not eat soft cheeses such as Feta, quesco blanco, quesco fresco, Brie, Camembert cheeses, blue-veined cheeses and Panela unless it is labeled as made with pasteurized milk. Use precooked or ready-to-eat food as soon as you can. Listeria can grow in the refrigerator. The refrigerator should be 40° F or lower, and the freezer 0° F or lower. Use an appliance thermometer to check the temperature of your refrigerator.
FSIS was informed by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) that products subject to recall in Canada may have been exported to the United States. This public health alert was initiated after positive test results and an investigation by CFIA in response to a listeriosis illness outbreak. At this time, no confirmed linkage has been made between the products subject to recall and the reported illnesses. This is an ongoing investigation and as more information becomes available, FSIS may proceed with a recall action. Implicated products produced by Siena Foods LTD, a Toronto, Ontario, establishment, include, but are not limited to, "Cacciatore Salami, Mild," "Coppa," "Prosciuttini," "Prosciuttini Hot," and "Prosciutto Cotto." The individually wrapped products have variable weights and a "Best Before" date through June 22, 2010, as well as the establishment number "Est. 212" inside the CFIA mark of inspection. However, the original brand and/or best before dates may not have been transferred at the deli counters to consumer packages. Persons who may have purchased any of these products and do not know original brand and code are advised to check with their retailer or supplier to determine if they have the affected product. Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon but potentially fatal disease. Healthy people rarely contract listeriosis. However, listeriosis can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Listeriosis can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths, as well as serious and sometimes fatal infections in those with weakened immune systems, such as infants, the elderly and persons with HIV infection or undergoing chemotherapy. The packages of beef product contain as an ingredient the specific Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein (HVP), which was previously recalled, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. Due to potential Salmonella contamination, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a recall of the HVP product on March 4, 2010. Recommendations for Preventing Salmonellosis:Wash hands with warm, soapy water for at least 20 seconds before and after handling raw meat and poultry. Also wash cutting boards, dishes and utensils with hot soapy water. Clean up spills right away. Keep raw meat, fish and poultry away from other food that will not be cooked. Use separate cutting boards for raw meat, poultry and egg products and cooked foods. Cook raw meat and poultry to safe internal temperatures before eating. The safe internal temperature for meat such as beef and pork is 160° F, and 165° F for poultry, as determined with a food thermometer. Ruiz Foods, Inc. distributes RTE beef product nationwide to retail and food service establishments. Only those products distributed for retail sale are subject to recall. All product distributed to food service establishments undergoes a lethality treatment to kill Salmonella before consumption. WASHINGTON, February 16, 2010 – Daniele International Inc., an establishment with operations in Pascoag and Mapleville, R.I., is expanding its January 23 recall to include approximately 115,000 pounds of salami/salame products that may be contaminated with Salmonella, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The recall is being expanded as a result of a confirmed finding of Salmonella in an unopened salami product tested by FSIS, and by ingredient testing performed by the company. The product was sampled during the course of an ongoing investigation of a multi-state outbreak of Salmonella serotype Montevideo illnesses. These products were not subject to recall previously because they are not sausage products that contain black pepper on the external surface, or packaged with such products. Based on preliminary testing results, the company believes that crushed red pepper may be a possible source of Salmonella contamination.Further testing is ongoing at a state health partner laboratory, and may determine if the product contained the Salmonella Montevideo strain associated with the multi-state outbreak. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), FSIS, state health and agriculture departments, and Daniele International are cooperating in this investigation. The CDC has posted information about the multi-state outbreak on its website (http://www.cdc.gov/salmonella) but the investigation is ongoing and the root cause of the contamination has not yet been determined.
FSIS is continuing to work with the CDC, FDA, affected state public health partners, and the company on the investigation and will update the public on the progress of this investigation as information becomes available.

WASHINGTON, January 23, 2010 - Daniele International Inc., an establishment with operations in Pascoag and Mapleville, R.I., is recalling approximately 1,263,754* pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) varieties of Italian sausage products, including salami/salame, in commerce and potentially available to customers in retail locations because they may be contaminated with Salmonella, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. FSIS became aware of the problem during the course of an ongoing investigation of a multi-state outbreak of Salmonella serotype Montevideo illnesses. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), FSIS, state health and agriculture departments, and Daniele International are cooperating in this investigation. The CDC has posted information about the multi-state outbreak on its website (http://www.cdc.gov/salmonella/ montevideo/index.html) but the investigation is ongoing, and has not yet definitively identified a food vehicle(s).During the course of that investigation, a sample of product found in commerce was tested on behalf of a participating state department of health and found to contain Salmonella, which FSIS has a zero tolerance for in RTE products. The product tested was similar to products bought by customers who later became sick in the Montevideo investigation, but currently there is not a direct link. The Salmonella strain in the tested product does not appear to be the Montevideo strain of interest and further testing of the sample is ongoing at a state health partner laboratory. HAIFA SMOKED FISH INC. ISSUES AN ALLERT ON UNEVISCERATED
WHOLE SCHMALTZ HERRING

Haifa Smoked Fish, located in Queens, New York, is recalling Haifa brand vacuum packaged Whole Schmaltz Herring with the lot number 20, because the product was found to be uneviscerated.

The lot being recalled is a product of Norway, individually vacuum-packed in clear plastic pouches with lot # 20 indicated on the label and distributed through various food retailers in the NY and NJ area.

The Whole Schmaltz Herring was sampled by a New York State Agriculture and Markets Food Inspector during a routine inspection. Subsequent analysis of the product by New York State Food Laboratory personnel confirmed that Whole Schmaltz Herring was not properly eviscerated prior to processing.

The sale of uneviscerated fish is prohibited under New York State Agriculture and Markets regulations because of Clostridium Botulinum spores are more likely to be concentrated in the viscera than any other portion of the fish. Uneviscerated fish has been linked to outbreaks of botulism poisoning.

Botulism is a serious and potentially fatal form of food poisoning, causes the following symptoms: general weakness, dizziness, double-vision and trouble with speaking or swallowing. Difficulty in breathing, weakness of other muscles, abdominal distension and constipation may also be common symptoms. People experiencing these problems should seek immediate medical attention.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

Consumers are warned not to use the product even if it does not look or smell spoiled and should return it to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 718-523-8899.

Global Commodities Inc. of Hicksville, NY is recalling its 0.50 lbs. packages of Aahu Barah brand Dry Apricot food treats because they contain undeclared Sulfites. People who have allergies to Sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The recalled Dry Apricots were distributed in New York State in some retail stores. The product comes in a 0.50 lbs., clear plastic package marked with Dry Apricot with an expiration date of 12/2013 stamped on the side.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by NY State Agriculture & Markets inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in the 0.50 lbs. package of dried apricots which were not declared on the label. Subsequently, investigation indicated the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging processes. Production of the product has been suspended until the company is certain that the problem has been corrected.

The consumption of 10 mg of sulfites per serving has been reported to illicit severe reactions in some asthmatics.

This recall was initiated after the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) confirmed a positive ground beef sample for E. coli O157:H7, which it collected during an epidemiological investigation. Working in conjunction with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH), FSIS determined that there is an association between the ground beef products and an illness in the state of Massachusetts. Bao Ding Seafood of New York, NY 10002 is recalling Boiled Horse Mackerel, because it has the potential to be contaminated with clostridium botulinum, a bacterium which can cause life-threatening illness or death.
Consumers are warned not to use the product even if it does not look or smell spoiled.
Botulism, a potentially fatal form of food poisoning, causes the following symptoms: general weakness, dizziness, double-vision and trouble with speaking or swallowing. Difficulty in breathing, weakness of other muscles, abdominal distension and constipation may also be common symptoms. People experiencing these problems should seek immediate medical attention.
The recalled Boiled Horse Mackerel packaged in a vacuum packed plastic bag, net weight 450g, was sold in New York State.
The recall Boiled Horse Mackerel was discovered by NYS Dept. of Agriculture and Market food inspector during a routine inspection and subsequent analysis of product by food lab personnel confirming fish was not eviscerated prior to processing.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in Radix Polygonati Officinalis which was not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams or more of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites.

Recall Reason: ConAgra Foods, in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is voluntarily recalling a limited number of 15 oz. tubs of Blue Bonnet Spread that were inadvertently mispackaged-the lid is for regular Blue Bonnet Spread and the tub portion describes the product as Blue Bonnet Light Spread. The product inside of the tub is regular Blue Bonnet Spread. As a result, the product tubs do not declare the allergen whey (milk), as an ingredient.
Pack/Codes: This issue affects only 1,120 cases of a single lot code of the product. The product UPC on the tub is 27000-00930. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is issuing this health alert to warn consumers not to use Pig Ears and Beef Hooves pet treats manufactured by Pet Carousel because the products may be contaminated with Salmonella. The products were distributed nationwide in both bulk and retail packaging for sale in pet food and retail chain stores. Pet Carousel is based in Sanger, Calif.The products were manufactured under conditions that facilitate cross-contamination within batches or lots. Although no illnesses associated with these products have been reported, the FDA is advising consumers in possession of these products to not handle or feed them to their pets.The affected pig ear products were packaged under the brand names Doggie Delight and Pet Carousel. The affected beef hooves were packaged under the brand names Choo Hooves, Dentley's, Doggie Delight, and Pet Carousel. All sizes and all lots of these products made by Pet Carousel are included in this alert.During September 2009, the FDA conducted routine testing of pig ears made by Pet Carousel. The test results detected a positive reading for Salmonella. This prompted an FDA inspection of Pet Carousel's manufacturing facilities. During the inspection, the agency collected additional pet treat samples. Further analysis found Salmonella present in beef hooves, pig ears and in the manufacturing environment.Salmonella can affect both humans and animals. People handling dry pet food and/or pet treats can become infected with Salmonella, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the treats or any surfaces exposed to these products. Consumers should dispose of these products in a safe manner by securing them in a covered trash receptacle.Healthy people infected with Salmonella may experience some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Although rare, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments including arterial infections, endocarditis (inflammation of the lining of the heart), arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. The Vacuum Pack Dried Lesh (fish) is a product of Russia.The Vacuum Pack Dried Lesh (fish) was sampled by a New York State Department of Agriculture and Market Food Inspector during a routine inspection. Subsequent analysis of the product by New York State Food Laboratory personnel confirmed that the Vacuum pack dried Lesh (fish) was not properly eviscerated prior to processing.The sale of unevicerated fish is prohibited under New York State Agriculture and Market regulations because Clostridium botulinum spores are more likely to be concentrated in the viscera than any other portion of the fish. Unevicerated fish have been linked to outbreaks of botulism poisoning.The product may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum spores, which can cause Botulism, a serious and potentially fatal food-bourne illness. Symptoms of botulism include blurred or double vision, general weakness, poor reflexes, difficulty in swallowing and respiratory paralysis. Undeclared Sulfites in “Agro Sun Dried Fruits and Nuts Tropical Mix”
New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker today alerted consumers that Agro Foods Inc., in Cliffside Park, New Jersey, is recalling "Agro Sun Dried Fruits and Nuts Tropical Mix” due to the presence of undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites may run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product.
The recalled "Agro Sun Dried Fruits and Nuts Tropical Mix” are packaged in 24 ounce (680 gram), round plastic tubs and coded best before 12/10 in black ink on the product label. Known distribution of the product is the New York Metropolitan area.
Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the product contained high levels of sulfites which were not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites.

Recall Reason: Because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. Distribution: [U.S. & Canada]: Of the 1,715 cartons of recalled bunched spinach, a total of 1,515 cartons were packed under the "Queen Victoria" label and distributed to California, Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, and to British Columbia, Ontario, and Manitoba in Canada. The remaining 200 cartons were packed under the "Tubby" label and distributed in California and New York. The recalled spinach was harvested September 1 through September 3, and distributed to retail, foodservice and wholesale buyers.
Recalled Products: The recalled bunched spinach was packed in 12-count and 24-count spinach bunches in cardboard boxes with "Spinach" printed on the side panel, in wire bound crates or reusable plastic containers. The 12-count and 24-count spinach bunches were bound with a twist tie which says "PLU 4090 UPC 33383-65200." The twist tie associated with the "Queen Victoria" label has the Queen Victoria logo on it. The twist tie for the Tubby label has a generic spinach band on it. Please review the following message from Alan Talarsky, Environmental Scientist 1, Food and Drug Safety Program, DHSS regarding the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Class 1 recall of Artisana Raw Tahini due to possible salmonella contamination.Premier Organics of Berkeley, CA is recalling 840 Cases of Artisana Raw Tahini of Lot 90811, in 16oz glass jars because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious infections. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.The affected lot (lot number 90811) has been distributed nationwide through retail locations and online stores. No other lots have been affected.There have been no reported illnesses to date.Of the numerous samples taken by both Premier Organics and the FDA of lot 90811, only one sample came back positive for salmonella. New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker today alerted consumers that Snack King Foods, Inc., located at 675 Pullman Avenue, Rochester, New York is recalling "Island Snacks Natures Mix" due to the presence of undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites may run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product.
The recalled "Island Snacks Natures Mix" is packaged in a 6.5 oz. plastic bag that is coded with the date Jul 24, 2010. The product was offered for sale at Kmart stores in Western New York State.
Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the product contained high levels of sulfites which were not declared on the label. PREPARING GROUND BEEF FOR SAFE CONSUMPTIONUSDA Meat and Poultry Hotline1-888-MPHOTLINE or visitwww.fsis.usda.govWash hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds before and after handling raw meat and poultry. Wash cutting boards, dishes and utensils with hot soapy water. Immediately clean spills. Keep raw meat, fish and poultry away from other food that will not be cooked. Use separate cutting boards for raw meat, poultry and egg products and cooked foods. Consumers should only eat ground beef or ground beef patties that have been cooked to a safe internal temperature of 160° F. Color is NOT a reliable indicator that ground beef or ground beef patties have been cooked to a temperature high enough to kill harmful bacteria such as E. coli O157:H7. The only way to be sure ground beef is cooked to a high enough temperature to kill harmful bacteria is to use a thermometer to measure the internal temperature. Refrigerate raw meat and poultry within two hours after purchase or one hour if temperatures exceed 90° F. Refrigerate cooked meat and poultry within two hours after cooking.
The ground beef products were packed in foam containers and bear a package code of "8.12.09" as well as the establishment number "EST. 5913" inside the USDA mark of inspection. These ground beef products were produced on Aug. 12, 2009, and were distributed to a consumer at the wholesale level in the Atlantic City, N.J., area, and packaged for sale to consumers at the retail level in Vineland, N.J. FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers (including restaurants) of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. The problem was discovered by FSIS during microbiological sampling. FSIS has received no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of these products. Individuals concerned about an illness should contact a physician. E. coli O157:H7 is a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause bloody diarrhea, dehydration, and in the most severe cases, kidney failure. The very young, seniors and persons with weak immune systems are the most susceptible to foodborne illness. Although the volume of cases from the single recalled lot has not changed, the company recognizes the possibility that some customers may have distributed the romaine in states beyond the original 29. Therefore, the company is extending the U.S. recall to all 50 states. The recall also includes Puerto Rico and Canada, as initially indicated.The recall was issued after a random test conducted by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture tested positive for Salmonella. No illnesses have been linked to the finding and no other products are affected by the recall.All customers who received the romaine directly from the company were notified on July 21 and advised to discard any existing product, which now is well past its shelf life. Romaine included in the recall was harvested June 25 - July 2. The 'G Collection' Mother's Day and Valentine's Day gift boxes that were available for purchase during limited holiday timeframes in 2009 are being recalled by Godiva Chocolatier, the distributor of the G Collection. This recall is being issued because one chocolate piece in the G Collection - the Praline Crunch - contains a dry nonfat milk ingredient purchased from Plainview Milk Products Cooperative, which has reported potential salmonella contamination on its equipment. Although the Praline Crunch piece itself has not been found to contain salmonella, as a precaution, the voluntary recall is being issued. This recall does not affect any Godiva branded products: one chocolate piece within the G Collection was impacted. No other Godiva products contain ingredients supplied by Plainview Milk Products Cooperative. Consumers can identify these boxes by their distinctive color and shape. Mother's Day boxes were brown with lime green trim and Valentine's Day boxes were brown with red trim. The logo, G Collection, is located at the bottom left corner on the top of the box. The G Collection is a line of hand crafted chocolates that has specific "consume by" dates printed on hangtags for each box to advise consumers of its 6-week shelf-life.
