U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Class 1 recalls of mores peanut butter-containing foods due to their association with the Peanut Corporation of Am

Please review the following message from Alan Talarsky, Environmental Scientist 1, Food and Drug Safety Program, DHSS regarding the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Class 1 recalls of mores peanut butter-containing foods due to their association with the Peanut Corporation of America, which has implicated as the likely source of the multi-state outbreak of Salmonella typhimurium. The additional recalls include products from Ready Pac Foods, PetSmart Pet Foods, Nature's Path Organic Energy Bars, and Country Maid Cookie Dough. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and FDA recommend that consumers refrain from consuming products containing peanut butter, although individual containers of peanut butter for retail sale have not been implicated in this outbreak.Since there are so many products with varying lot codes being recalled, and the likelihood of this list being updated frequently, the Food and Drug Safety Program (FDSP) recommends visiting the FDA's webpage of recalled peanut butter products at the following weblink:http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/peanutbutterrecall/index.cfm Some of these products have been identified as having been distributed into New Jersey.FDSP continues to recommend that local health department officials, during the course of routine inspections, verify that the recalled products are not remaining on retail food establishments' shelves or offered in foodservice operations for consumption.
