UNDECLARED PEANUTS IN V-LIKE OMPODI
New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker announced today that MCM Corporation, 339 Troutman St, Brooklyn, New York 11227 is recalling "V-like Ompodi" because it contains undeclared peanuts. People who have an allergy to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The recalled product, "V-like Ompodi" is packaged in a clear plastic tub coded "EXPIRY DATE APRIL 30 2008". The label lacks a weight declaration. The "V-like Ompodi" was sold in metropolitan New York City and New Jersey. It is a product of Malaysia.
The problem was discovered as a result of routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by the Department’s Food Laboratory personnel that peanut-containing product was distributed in packages that did not reveal the presence of peanuts.
No illnesses have been reported to date to this Department in connection with this problem. Consumers who have purchased "V-like Ompodi" are urged to return them to the place of purchase.
