Product Recovery - Notification to Customers

Progresso Italian Wedding Soup Can 18.5oz and Progresso Italian Wedding Soup Microwave Bowl 15.25oz

February 25, 2008 – In accordance with the USDA directive relating to the recent Class II beef recall, we are voluntarily issuing a recovery of Progresso Italian Wedding Soup. Upon learning of the USDA recall, we launched an investigation and learned of a supplier that had sourced beef from this vendor. The USDA has said the health risk is negligible and as such, consumer notification is not required.

No other Progresso or General Mills products are involved.

The products involved in this action are limited to Best if Used By Codes as follows:

Progresso Italian Wedding Soup Can 18.5oz. from 12OCT9 to 08NOV9
Progresso Italian Wedding Soup Microwave Bowl 15.25oz 05JAN9 only

Special Packs contain a manufacture date code from 25OCT7 to 18DEC7 on the pallet wrap. Individual consumer units are the same Best if Used By Codes as above

We are asking your immediate help to do the following:

1. Please review your inventory and communicate to your warehouse to place the identified cases of Progresso Italian Wedding Soup on HOLD.

2. Arrangements will be made by your General Mills Customer Service Rep to return full case quantities of this product from your warehouse. This Rep will also work with you in replenishing your new product.

3. Please communicate to your retailers to remove ONLY the specific consumer packages from store
shelves immediately. We are providing three options to address the retail recovery:

a) Please direct your stores to return the “product packages” to your reclamation center. A
Reclamation Center invoice for this specific product should be sent to your GMI Customer Service Rep
This product should be destroyed by the reclaimation center.



b) Destroy product. Provide either labels and/or an itemized listing of the product destroyed. Information should be sent to:

c) General Mills is also offering the services of a 3rd party recovery company, RQA, to provide assistance
at retail level. Please contact your GMI Customer Service Rep. if you are interested in this service.

4. Please advise your stores to direct any consumer inquires to the General Mills consumer hot line at 1 (800) 200-9377.
