Subject: Fairbank Reconstruction Corporation Ground Beef Product Recall

Fairbank Reconstruction Corp., an Ashville, NY, firm is voluntarily recalling 22,481 pounds of ground beef products because they may contain pieces of plastic. A list of products included in the recall may be referenced in the attached USDA recall release.

The recalled products were produced on May 3rd and were distributed to retail establishments in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, and New York. The initial reported retail distribution to Connecticut was to Shaw’s, Price Chopper, and BJ’s stores. In addition one Connecticut wholesaler also received the recalled products. Please refer to the attached USDA partial list of Connecticut consignees.

The Department of Consumer Protection Food and Standards Division (DCP) prepared the attached press release and are conducting recall effectiveness checks. DCP may be reached at (860) 713-6160 for further information and assistance.

In addition to following up with the retail consignees It is recommended that you consider the possibility that food service establishments in your jurisdiction may have purchased the recalled products from the above retail outlets and provide further local notification as appropriate.
