Recall Reason: The following recall has been announced because the products may be contaminated with salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems.

Situation: The Swiss Colony Inc. is recalling certain products containing in-shell pistachios. No known illnesses have been reported, according to the company. The recalled products were distributed from August 2008 to March 31, 2009.

1.5 ounce bag of red and natural, in-shell, salted pistachios. This recalled product came with an assortment of candies, cheeses, sausages and nuts in an octagon-shaped box. Lot numbers on the pistachio bag: 6942, 6949; item/order numbers: 1928, AB719, AC719, AJ719.
