Undeclared Eggs in Strawberry Cake
New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker today alerted consumers that Tiffany Food Corp, located at 1182 Flushing Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11237 is recalling “Strawberry Cake” due to undeclared eggs. Consumers who are allergic to eggs may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.
The recalled “Strawberry Cake,” a product of Taiwan, is packaged in a 350 gram paper box with a UPC code of 4 711931 001351. It was sold in New Jersey and metropolitan New York.
The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of undeclared eggs in “Strawberry Cake” in packages that did not declare eggs as an ingredient on the label.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this product. Consumers who have purchased “Strawberry Cake” should return it to the place of purchase.
