Please review the following message from Alan Talarsky, Environmental Scientist 1, Food and Drug Safety Program, DHSS regarding the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Class 1 recall of Del Valle Clam Club Tomato and Natural Clam Cocktail beverages.Jugos del Valle USA of Houston, TX is recalling 6,200 cases of Del Valle Clam Club® Tomato and Natural Clam Cocktail beverages because they may contain undeclared wheat, fish, milk, shrimp, and crab ingredients. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat, fish, milk, shrimp or crab could run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.Del Valle Clam Club beverages were imported from Mexico and distributed to retailers in 25 states (Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington and Virginia) through retail stores.The Del Valle Clam Club product affected is packaged in an 8.4 fl. oz. glass bottle with UPC code 32239 05702. All lot codes are being recalled. No illnesses have been reported to date.The labeling issue was discovered during a review of labels and ingredients. Jugos del Valle will resume selling del Valle Clam Club Tomato and Natural Clam Cocktail beverages after the product packaging has been corrected to include all FDA required ingredient information.The Company has been in phone and email contact with 100% of its consignees (distributors and large retailers with their own distribution centers) which received this product.Consumers who have questions are urged to call 1-866-878-7397. If consumers are concerned about a potential allergenic reaction, they can return the Del Valle Clam Club product to the retailer from which they purchased it for a full refund or credit.No action is required of local health departments at this time for this recall.
