***CONSUMER ALERT***
Undeclared Milk in Berkeley Bakery Brand Ensaymada Ube

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker today alerted consumers that Bigol & Cortdera Inc., located at 405 Raritan Ave, Highland Park, NJ 08904, is voluntarily recalling packages of “Berkeley Bakery brand Ensaymada Ube” due to an undeclared milk ingredient. People who have allergies to milk may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.

The recalled “Berkeley Bakery Ensaymada Ube” is wrapped in plastic, labeled with a net weight of 6 oz (170 g), and is not coded. The product was distributed throughout the five boroughs of New York City and New Jersey.

Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets’ food inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of milk in the finished product, which was not declared on the label.

No illnesses have been reported to date to this Department in connection with the problem. Consumers who have purchased “Berkeley Bakery Ensaymada Ube” should return it to the place of purchase.
